Extraordinary Circumstances
Flight delays and cancellations can happen because of a lot of different reasons.
Sometimes, these problems happen because of absolutely unexpected situations. For example, extreme weather conditions, air traffic restrictions, political instability, security risks, airport staff strikes, and more. In short, it’s something that airlines can’t control. Legally it’s known as “extraordinary circumstances”.
If your flight is cancelled or delayed because of “extraordinary circumstances”, you can’t get compensation. However, you still have a right to certain services from the airline – it’s airline’s responsibility to take care of its passengers.
